The Rump•a•rooz® were born in 2006, shortly after the birth of our second daughter. We quickly learned that she was highly sensitive to disposable diapers to the point where she could not handle even a few hours in them. After lengthy research and sampling of many different brands of cloth diapers we were discouraged. We could not find a cloth diaper that fit her ideally and did not leak. Each diaper change was a full outfit change as the diapers could not contain the frequent messes. With a pen and paper I sat down to design our own diapers for our daughter. I have been sewing for over 20 years and this was my simple solution to our problem. The first thing I did was add the inner gusset which is now our signature, and patent pending, feature. The Rump•a•rooz® Onesize Cloth Diaper is the first and only cloth diaper to contain inner gussets which are 100% leak proof against the messiest explosions! News spread about our new diaper and design and I soon had orders to fill for interested moms and dads. Soon retailers were requesting the Rump•a•rooz® for their stores. Rump•a•rooz® are now sold world wide in more than 28 countries.
Every business has to start somewhere and this one started out in a tiny little living room with Julie tracing and sewing diapers at the kitchen table while her husband cut all her fabric. Kanga Care is excited to be in its 4th year of providing the globe with an environmentally conscious and healthy way for families to diaper their children. Kanga Care has several products at the moment including the Rump•a•rooz® One Size Cloth Diaper, the Lil Joey newborn and preemie AIO (all in one), the RAVED about 6•r soaker (available in both microfiber and hemp) and sized inserts (also available in both microfiber and hemp.)
The Rump•a•rooz® Onesize Cloth Diaper has 4 sizes which are adjustable by the rise snaps on the front of the diaper. The Rump•a•rooz® is the first onesize diaper that starts fitting at 6 lbs, no more waiting for your newborn to put on a few pounds before wearing cloth diapers! Available in both Snap and Aplix (Velcro) closure, the Rump•a•rooz® are a pocket diaper system. Each diaper comes with a "6•r soaker" which has 6 absorbency and size setting to best customize the fit and function of the Rumparooz for your child. The 6•r soaker is inserted in the pocket opening on the inside of the Rump•a•rooz® to make the diaper absorbent. The Rump•a•rooz® diaper itself is made of a PUL (1000 thread count polyester interlock knit with a urethane laminate) which is waterproof. The inside of the diaper, which lies against baby's skin, is a scrumptiously soft microchamois which is 100% hypo-allergenic and no-pill.
The Lil Joey is an AIO (all in one diaper) with a sewn in soaker, no pocket. This specialty diaper was designed to fill the gap between a newborn size and other brands of one size diapers. The Lil Joey fits babies 4-12 lbs. The Rump•a•rooz® One Size Diaper will fit a newborn starting at 6 lbs but other brands of one size diapers will not fit until 10-12 lbs. The Lil Joey has a snap down center for easy umbilical care and comfort. The Lil Joey is a 2 size or "grow with me" diaper as it has shorter rise setting in the snapped down position and then higher rise settings in the unsnapped position.

Rump•a•rooz® and accessories are made in several factories located in Denver Colorado, Chicago Illinois, Denmark and China. We have several factories to meet the supply and demand for all our customers and retail stores.
The 2 facilities in CO and IL are both smaller companies that are woman owned and operated. These facilities are in charge of production of our original 12 colors and original 6 prints, sized inserts and specialty limited edition prints.
Products made overseas are manufactured by a small, European owned company in China, that is dedicated to ensuring safe workplace standards, above average salaries and incentives for their workers. No workers works more than 8 hours a day (ie no forced overtime), and no children are employed. Workers receive 20% above average wages, and the company adheres to standards outlined by the International Labor Organization (ILO), see www.ilo.org.
This manufacturer also grows their own organic cotton and organic hemp fibers, certified by SKAL, and the fields for fiber growth are certified by the Institute for Marketecology (IMO, see http://www.imo.ch/). They only use safe dyes that follow the Oeko Tex Standard 100 and the fabrics are tested by SGS (one of China's most reputable, independent labs that test fabrics to ensure production comes within minimum safety standards) to ensure that no harmful chemicals are added. The factory is also in the process of acquiring IMO's Global Organic Textile Standard certification.
